Bio

Juan F. Tellez is an assistant professor of political science at UC Davis. He received his PhD in political science in 2019 from Duke University. Prior to Davis, he was an assistant professor of political science at The University of South Carolina. Professor Tellez’s research is at the intersection of conflict and development, with an emphasis on peacebuilding, post-conflict transitions, and the impact of wartime violence on people and communities. In addition to his academic writing, Tellez has worked on the design and evaluation of large international development programs, including LASER Ethiopia (USAID), Colombia’s Land and Rural Development Program (USAID), and the Generasi Programme in Indonesia (World Bank).
