His published work and research projects lie at the intersection of economic history, labor economics, and development economics, with a focus on Latin America. David uses historical natural experiments, newly digitized microdata, and causal inference methods to (1) study human migration from a historical perspective; (2) assess the relationship between migration and economic development in the short and long run; and (3) examine the effects of historical immigration and labor market policies.
