Bio

Elizabeth Villalobos is an assistant professor of Latin American literature and culture at the University of Nevada, Reno, with interests in cultural representations of Mexico´s northern and southern border areas in literature, theater, poetry, and documentary film. Villalobos is a 2020-2021 American Association of University Women fellow completing her book, Necropolitical Neoliberalism: Murderous Masculinity on Mexico’s Borders, an interdisciplinary analysis of cultural representations of masculinity and the violence associated with neoliberal economic reforms. She has conducted research on border studies and human rights in Mexico, Argentina, and Germany and is a former editorial assistant of the Latin American Theatre Review.
