Abstract :
The vertiginous world-of life of the Tijuana – San Diego micro-region makes it one of the most studied borders in the world. The cultural and socioeconomic interaction is not accidental, since its foundation one is not conceived without the other. Nevertheless, in a context of a cross-border necropolitics, a social phenomenon, such as, the criminalization of people in conditions of mobility —also known as ‘crimmigration’— arise and becomes even more complex when a state of exception is implemented. The question guiding the research is: can we observe -in a context of necropolitics and phobopolitics- the crimmigration phenomenon in the Tijuana - San Diego micro-region? The research employs a quantitative and qualitative methodology, which, while not comprehensive, encompasses several case studies of violence perpetrated against migrants in Tijuana and San Diego. The investigation is substantiated by evidence disseminated in official reports and reputable local media, including The San Diego Union-Tribune, Zeta, Proceso, and La Jornada.
