Abstract: The Humanizando la Deportación team will present their book Humanizando la
deportación: narrativas digitales desde las calles de Tijuana, recently published by El Colegio de
la Frontera Norte, and coedited by Robert McKee Irwin and the late Guillermo Alonso Meneses.
Our panel will include brief interventions by several of its authors, all of whom participated in the
project's first year of fieldwork in Tijuana in 2017, and together bring a range of interdisciplinary
perspectives to the book (xicana feminist cultural studies, performance studies, history of the
present, interdisciplinary migration studies), offering a diversity of insights on the repercussions
of forced repatriation on the lives of migrants. Contributors include Israel Ibarra, Sarah Hart, Ana
Luisa Calvillo, Marlené Mercado, and Yairamaren Román Maldonado.
