Research Highlight: Financial Immigration Federalism

Financial immigration federalism is a term created to classify the ways states use financial markets to implement and enforce their own immigration priorities. Based on a research paper of the same name, Professor Shayak Sarkar of the UC Davis School of Law explains how states have been using earned income tax credits, tuition rates and funding eligibility for state colleges, and residential mortgages to affect the lives of immigrants.
