Dr. Normand has an inter-disciplinary research background in international relations, history, education, and migration studies. She obtained her BA degree in Social and Political Sciences from Emmanuel College at the University of Cambridge and her MPhil/DPhil in International Relations from Nuffield College at the University of Oxford. She was a Herchel Smith Scholar at Harvard University and later a Research Fellow at the Program on Negotiation at Harvard Law School. She has taught at the University of California, Davis, USA and was a visiting scholar at UC Berkeley. She is also an affiliated researcher at the University of Stavanger, Norway.
Her particular research interests include undocumented immigrants, attitudes towards and representation of immigrants, and inclusive participatory research. Recent successful grant applications and awards include the UC Davis Diversity and Inclusion Innovation Grant and the UC Berkeley Peder Sather Grant.
