This conference is a convening of scholars who are on the ground working toward immigrant justice. Whether it is through grassroots organizing, direct services, or program development scholars are transforming their research to benefit their partners. This conference is a reflection and interrogation of how scholars conduct research. Questioning the ethics of activist-engaged research and methods that contribute to immigrant justice. A deep dive into the critical research being conducted surrounding detention, and the impact it has on the individuals living in detention, their families, and surrounding communities. Finally, this conference looks at the possibilities and necessity of scholar-activism. Scholars cannot afford to be objective and must take a political stance alongside their research partners.
The conference will consist of two roundtables exploring scholar-activist research surrounding immigrant justice.
