Aparna Malaviya is a Fulbright Nehru Post-Doctoral Visiting Scholar from India (September 2018-march 2020). As a Fulbright fellow, Aparna is working with Professor Sunaina Maira at the Department of Asian American Studies at UC Davis. Aparna is an ethnographer and a researcher of Refugee Studies.  She is currently working on her Postdoctoral project on Afghan Refugees in the US.

She aims to explore the diaspora processes of space building in a transnational context. The aim of her ongoing project is to study dimensions of difference in the refugee care regimes of the India and the US and its reflections in the everyday lives of refugees living in these two countries.
