Guoli Wu is a Ph.D. Candidate at the Institute of International Relations, China Foreign Affairs University. Her research centers on Latin American migration, with particular emphasis on mobility, migration drivers, and immigration policies in the European Union and the United States.
Her previous work has explored the structural causes of migration from the Northern Triangle of Central America, the security vulnerabilities of Latin American women migrants, and the decision-making mechanisms underlying the EU's migration governance. Her current research interests include: i. the cultural and psychological dimensions shaping migratory experiences; ii. the evolution, implementation, and effectiveness of U.S. immigration law and policy; iii. the diplomatic interaction mechanisms within Latin America.
At UC Davis, she works under the supervision of Professor Robert Irwin in the Department of Spanish, and contributes to the Humanizing Deportation project, where she engages with audiovisual and digital methodologies. She also plans to engage in the project’s fieldwork along the border region.
