Bio

Shayak Sarkar is an economist and lawyer.  Prior to law teaching, he worked as an employment attorney and helped immigrant workers vindicate their rights through both individual casework and broader legal reforms.  He received his J.D. from Yale Law School, where he was active in the Iraqi Refugee Assistance Project and the Worker and Immigrant Rights Advocacy Clinic.  Before law school he studied as a Rhodes Scholar at Oxford, where he earned masters degrees, with distinction, in social work and development economics.  He is currently finishing his Ph.D. in economics at Harvard University.
