The Bank of Canada and the Global Migration Center at the University of California Davis would like to invite you to submit a paper to the workshop on the Macroeconomic Implications of Migration that will take place in Ottawa on August 29-30, 2022. The goal of the workshop is to promote discussion and dissemination of innovative theoretical and empirical research on the macroeconomic implications of migration. The organizing committee invites research submissions on topics related (but not limited) to:

The labor market impacts of (im)migration, their effects on firms, productivity, innovation, and the economy as a whole.

The response of migration to different economic shocks and policies.

The business-cycle behaviour of migration and its relation to monetary and fiscal policies.

The effect of migration on public finances.

The channels through which migration affects potential output and the neutral rate.

The keynote speakers for the workshop are Ethan Lewis (Dartmouth College) and Giovanni Peri (UC  Davis). We also have confirmation of participation from the following scholars: Britta Glennon (University of Pennsylvania), Federico Mandelman (Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta), Anna Maria Mayda (Georgetown University) and Joan Monras (Universitat Pompeu Fabra).
