Global Compact for Safe, Orderly, and Regular Migration

The following message is brought to you by Professor Jeannette Money, a Migration Research Faculty, regarding the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly, and Regular Migration:

Dear Colleagues:

Many of you are aware of the New York Declaration in September 2016 which made commitments for the protection of refugees and migrants.  These included the negotiation of a global compact for safe, orderly and regular migration.  The United Nations has begun its consultations with non-governmental stakeholders and invited institutions to apply for accreditation to the consultations.

With the help of Joanna Regulska and the Office of Global Affairs, I applied for and received accreditation for the University of California, Davis.  Thus, members of the UC Davis community now have the opportunity to apply to attend various consultations held in New York, Geneva, and one in Vienna.  If you are interested, you must apply for each session you would like to attend and provide your own funding to attend the sessions.

With this email, I attach three documents.  The first is the email that notifies the accredited status and lists the various consultative meeting dates and locations.  The second is the letter of accreditation which includes a list of all accredited organizations.  You will note that academic institutions are underrepresented.  The third attachment is the stakeholder guidelines.

I am happy that the faculty at UC Davis have this opportunity to contribute to an important process in the global governance of migration.

Best regards,
Jeannette Money
