Professor Chin comments for Boston Globe on Trump Statements on Immigration

Professor Gabriel “Jack” Chin commented for the Boston Globe on recent comments reportedly made by President Trump and how they may figure in litigation over “sanctuary cities,” the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, and other immigration-related issues. Trump’s remarks, which used a vulgar epithet to refer to countries in Africa and Haiti and called for more immigrants from predominately white Norway, have been criticized as indicating racial bias.

Jack comments “Now the argument will be the policy is based on raw bias, and therefore the presumption of constitutionality that’s normally associated with the actions of the president should go out the window.”
