The study found that each new refugee household in Uganda boosts total local income, including that of refugees, by $320-430 more than the cost of the aid the household is given. This impact rises to $560-670 when refugees are given aid in cash instead of in kind. Ed Taylor is leading this research, in collaboration with current graduate students Anubhab Gupta, Mohamad Alloush, Irvin Rojas, and Heng Zhu; ARE alumnus Mateusz Filipski (IFPRI and University of Georgia); and WFP East Africa Program Officer Ernesto Gonzalez.
