In an essay written for the Huffington Post entitled, "The Immigration Act of 1965 and the Creation of a Modern, Diverse America," Professor Gabriel "Jack" Chin and Professor Rose Cuison-Villazor discussed the impact and limits of the 1965 Immigration Act. Their essay highlights reasons for why the Act should be celebrated, as well as why it should be critiqued. One of those reasons being the limitations on the immigration of gays and lesbians, because of the prejudice against homosexuality apparent at that time.
