Philip Martin interviewed by the Capital Public Radio regarding "Guest" Workers in Florida farms

Professor Emeritus Philip Martin was recently interviewed by Dan Charles for Capital Public Radio, for a podcast regarding the "guest" workers in Florida farms. The podcast, entitled "Guest Workers, Legal Yet Not Quite Free, Pick Florida's Oranges," examines the impact and economic lives of seasonal farm workers. These seasonal farm workers are brought to the United States from other countries by using a work visa called H-2A.

A criticism about this work visa is that it might tie the seasonal worker to just a single employer. Professor Martin notes that the freedom to choose between which employer to work for can be really important, especially when there is a difference in pay.
