Rose Cuison-Villazor and Kevin Johnson's opinion on Kate's Law published on the New York Times and Sacramento Bee

In recent New York Times and Sacramento Bee opinion pages, Dean Kevin R. Johnson and Professor Rose Cuison-Villazor co-authored articles discussing federal immigration policy and local sanctuary laws.

The opinion articles are in part in response to the renewed attention given to "Kate's Law," a bill which aims to amend the Immigration and Nationality Act to increase penalties applicable to aliens who unlawfully reenter the United States after being removed. This bill was created in response to the killing of Kathryn Steinle, allegedly by an undocumented immigrant from Mexico. It was referred to the Subcommittee on Immigration and Broder Security last July.
