Kevin R. Johnson interviewed by Philly.com regarding controversy over "sanctuary cities"

In an article published on Philly.com (Philadelphia Media Network's online news portal), Dean Kevin R. Johnson comments on the different definitions "sanctuary cities" could take on for different cities. While "sanctuary cities" has been a controversial topic for the Republican presidential primaries, Dean Johnson comments that politicians who campaign against sanctuary cities rarely define the policies they are opposing or explain how such policies contribute to crime.

According to him, "sanctuary cities" can mean that local police are barred from questioning people solely to determine immigration status to one city, while to another city it can mean that authorities may not comply with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement requests to hold individuals beyond their release on local charges.
