Kevin R. Johnson's comments on Justice Scalia's absence were published on Fox40 and the Sacramento Bee

Recent media coverage of Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia's absence from the Court featured comments from Dean Kevin R. Johnson. Dean Johnson was interviewed by Fox40 news and also published by the Sacramento Bee for an op-ed piece regarding the consequences of not having a nine-person Supreme Court.

He especially mentioned the Friedrich v. California Teachers Association case, in which Justice Scalia was expected to side with the majority and end the case. With his absence, the case has new life, Dean Johnson said.

In remembering Justice Scalia, Dean Johnson wrote in his Sacramento Bee piece that Justice Scalia's most consequential opinion was Whren v. United States, which upheld the use of racial profiling by law enforcement.
