The presentation looks at a unique form of immigrant transnational practice—cross-space consumption. We consider the act of consumption to have not only functional value that satisfies material needs, but also social value that confers symbolic meaning and social status.

The workshop will be held at the Department of Economics, University of Copenhagen from June 12-13 and is part of the five-year research program EARN (Economic Assimilation Research Network) funded by the Innovation Fund Denmark.

The 8-day workshop will train up to 30 graduate students, researchers and beginning faculty in best-practices and in methodologies particularly relevant to the study of immigration and migration populations.
