Movilidades Humanas en las Américas: entre regímenes de expulsión, políticas de contención e industrias de cuidado

We are pleased to announce the publication of Movilidades Humanas en las Américas: entre regímenes de expulsión, políticas de contención e industrias de cuidado, coedited by Kelly Muñoz Balcázar, Yuliet Bedoya, and GMC Deputy Director Robert McKee Irwin. This digital book, published by Editorial Bonaventuriana (Colombia), brings together essays by migration studies scholars from across the Americas, who analyze from diverse disciplinary perspectives contemporary trends in migration in the hemisphere (with a focus most especially on the migration corredor that runs from Colombia and through Central America and Mexico to the United States). The book's 15 chapters take into account the state actions that seek to control human mobility, the networks that aim to protect migrants' human rights, and perspectives of migrants themselves, including many published in UCD's Humanizing Deportation/Asylum archive. Authors include several graduate student affiliates and alumni of the GMC as well as other UCD graduate students, including Lucas Ruppel, Lizbeth De La Cruz, and Chandler Thompson.
